Some people would have you believe that the answer to this question is simple and across the board. They may argue that you are throwing your money away of you rent. While no one would argue the fact that your money is gone when you pay the rent, never to be seen again, the truth is that most of the money paid for a mortgage is also thrown away. There are many expenses associated with home ownership that never seem to make their way into the discussion, notably the extreme difference in price between homeowner’s insurance and renters insurance.

New York Approves Medical Malpractice Insurance Rate Hike

The average medical malpractice insurance rate increase for New York doctors this year will be five percent. The increase, which took effect July 1, follows two years of rates freezes.

New York State Insurance Superintendent James J. Wrynn, who approved the rates, said the increase “will help hold the line on costs for physicians while giving the insurance companies the resources to pay claims as they come due.”

Wrynn established new base rates resulting in five percent increases for Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Co.

Often, people look at a mortgage payment and a monthly rent payment and, if the two are even close, they assume that buying is the better deal. After all, if you rent, you’re just throwing your money away. Or are you?

While there are good reasons to buy and equally good reasons to rent, you should carefully consider the total costs of both before you make a decision to do either. Missouri Vehicle Insurance Laws

Insurance companies operating within the state must report all insurance policy sales, cancellations and nonrenewals on registered vehicles to the Missouri Department of Revenue Driver License Bureau. The bureau uses this information to determine the status of illegally uninsured drivers so corrective action can be taken.
