In the wake of Republicans’ sweep of the Ohio Legislature and other state offices, advocacy groups traditionally supported by Democrats are gearing up for budget and policy fights, the AP/Dayton Daily News reports.
During the next two-year session, Republicans will control both chambers of the Legislature, the governorship and the office of attorney general, among other state posts. Leaders in the Legislature said it is too soon to discuss whether social issues, such as abortion rights, will be on the agenda in the upcoming session. Republican state Sen.

Some Question Data on Low Worker Injury Rates in North, South Carolina
November 7th, 2010
A new federal study estimating the rate of workplace injuries last year finds North and South Carolina among the country’s safest in which to work.
But some workplace safety experts doubt whether the rates accurately reflect which states are safer.
North Carolina’s rate of injuries or illnesses at private companies dropped to a historic low in 2009 of 3.1 cases per 100 full-time workers, compared with 3.4 cases in 2008, the state’s Labor Department said. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said the injury rate in South Carolina was 3.2 cases per 100 workers last year, compared to 3.1 in 2008.

Injury rates in both states were near the country’s lowest, along with Texas, Louisiana, Virginia and New York.

Don’t Get Hung Up on One Social Media Outlet
November 7th, 2010
The tools of today may not be the tools of tomorrow. The Web is ever changing.
That’s why it’s important not to get too bogged down in any one type of marketing – online or otherwise. It’s great to get involved in online communities, but don’t let it eat up all your time and become the only type of marketing you do.
It’s fine to use Facebook, Twitter or other sites, but don’t invest too much into only those things. As quickly as those outlets popped up on the web, others may pop up just as fast. The key is flexibility.

Home insurance can at times be a little baffling. Much in the same way that any financial package can get with their long and complicated figure and their verbose and legalistic vocabulary, home insurance policies can end up causing stress and getting to be more trouble than they are worth.
Or at least that’s how it can feel. Most mortgage lenders require that borrowers purchase a minimum amount of home insurance (typically equal to the appraised value or the purchase price of the home), but even then it is common sense. E

Even though the Democrats suffered considerable losses during the elections this week, American voters do not want the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act repealed, according to consumer health organization, Families USA. Voters have been particularly worried about their jobs, unemployment and the economy; concerns which override the Republican Party’s pledge to repeal the health care reform introduced this year, the organization stresses.
Regarding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA said:
American voters’ focus during the elections was overwhelmingly on jobs and the economy, and this will remain the key public concern until the economy substantially improves.
