Why health insurance is necessary
January 24th, 2011
You have heard the stories, they all end the same. A young family is embarking on a new future together. Part-time jobs help the young couple afford to go to school and afford rent in their new apartment. They are bogged down with homework and their jobs, but still happy to be with each other. Good news! The young wife is pregnant. Bad news: they did not have health insurance. It could cost a few thousand dollars for an in and out birth, but complications during the birth landed their newborn baby in the newborn intensive care unite (NICU) for a week. Now the charges are up to $30,000; more money than the young family could ever dream of paying back.

Short term health insurance
January 15th, 2011
Traditional health insurance is generally viewed as long term health insurance. Meaning you enroll in an insurance plan, either through work, school or independently, and you have it for longer than a year. But what if you need insurance for shorter than a year? Maybe to cover some gaps? There is a perfect option for you.
Short term health insurance could also be called transitional insurance. Recent college grads have an unknown amount of time between graduation and a job offer. If they are receiving student health insurance, that will expire once the diploma hits their hand (or gets mailed to them, but you get the picture). While some grads are lucky enough to transition easily into their first real job, some are not so lucky.
