Look Into Cheap Health Insurance With Long-Term Coverage
December 30th, 2010
We don’t want to think about nursing homes and assisted living centers when we are in our 30s and 40s; however, planning now can make it much easier once you hit your older years. The reason is because people are living longer, and this should be something we consider in our retirement package. Health Insurers to Face Scrutiny If Premiums Are Raised In 2011
December 23rd, 2010
Any health insurance companies that choose to raise premiums 10 percent or more in 2011 will face new regulatory scrutiny, according to an announcement made by the Obama administration on Tuesday. In an effort to show that health care reform can indeed stop rapid increases in premiums, the administration plans to adopt new rules next year that will improve federal oversight of increases–something that was previously managed exclusively by each state.
Obama Wants to Stop Unjustified Rate Increases
The new preliminary guidelines issued by the administration would require health insurance companies to post detailed justifications online when they propose a double-digit rate hike. A

An Improved Ohio Workers’ Comp System Continues to Face Challenges
December 22nd, 2010
The Ohio workers’ compensation system is by all accounts in much better shape than it was in the dark days of 2007, when the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation was embroiled in a series of investment scandals. The recent successes, as well as continuing controversies, have kept the Ohio workers’ comp system in the headlines and made it one of the most covered stories in Insurance Journal‘s Midwest region in 2010.
In October, Ohio’s progress in reducing costs for Ohio employers was recognized in a national study.

December 16th, 2010
A.M. Best Co. has assigned a financial strength rating of ‘B+’ (Good) and issuer credit rating of “bbb-” to Michigan-based PrimeOne Insurance Company, both with stable outlooks. The fight to implement health care reform is in for a fight into at least 2012 after a federal district judge in Richmond, Va. ruled against one provision of the law on Monday. The Justice Department plans to appeal the decision, which states Congress lacks the authority to compel individuals to carry health coverage. The New Challenge to Health Care Reform
This challenge to the health care reform law is nothing new for the government. Within minutes of signing reform into law, 14 states sued, calling the law unconstitutional as the newest judge cited on Monday.
Many state attorney generals and governors simply don’t like the idea of forcing residents to purchase health insurance. T
